To start things off, Robert received his education from the distinguished Tulane University and also Sewanee University where he earned a Masters of Architecture from Tulane University and a Bachelors of Arts respectively. It is easy to see how educational career prepared him well for a successful transition into a prosperous working career. With that said, Robert Ivy quickly found successful roles after school having multiple stints as an Editor in Chief, Vice President, and Editorial Director across a number of jobs. Having such well-trusted roles across his career just goes to show how admired and respected Robert Ivy is in the field of architecture.
 
When given leadership responsibilities at his current position at the American Institute of Architects in 2010, many in the field believed that it was long overdue given the amount of work he has put in over the years.
